National Thermal Power Centre Korba

The state of Chhattisgarh has gained a new industrial identity after the establishment of National Thermal Power Centre Korba. The capacity of this highly powerful center of Chhattisgarh is around 2100 MW and there are six units which are engaged in generation of electricity for the entire state.

Ranked as the fifth largest power units, National Thermal Power Center established its first two units in the year 1983, while the third unit came into existence in 1984. The three subsequent units came up in 1987, 1988 and 1989, respectively. Engaging a total of 2800 workforce, this power center of the state involved a whooping investment of rs. 1625 crore.

The day-to-day operations of the National Thermal Power Center at Korba requires an unhindered supply of water. In order to meet this demand, the nearby Right Bank Canal is utilized which is a part of the Hasdeo Barrage of Chhattisgarh.

Ranked among the biggest power centers of Asia, NTPC Korba consumes 40, 000 MT coal everyday to generate sufficient electricity. The major clients of this center, apart from Chhattisgarh, include Daman, Goa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

Supplying electricity to each and every household and commercial complex of the state, National Thermal Power Center in Korba has set a remarkable milestone in the industrial areas of Chhattisgarh.

Situated at a distance of about 12 km from the city of Korba, National Thermal Power Center is a manifestation of self-sufficient electricity sector that has transformed the state into bright hub of possibilities.
